Update: I Hear From Constellation’s Lawyers (Yikes!)

Some of you may remember a Facebook Ad I ran, comparing the 2022 Dial Tone Pinot Noir with the 2021 Meiomi Pinot Noir and declaring that there was less sugar in the 32 bottles of Dial Tone than in one bottle of Meiomi. Ultimately, my position was (and remains) that people should drink what they like but know what they are drinking (I started with Mondavi White Zinfandel, after all) and that wines like Meomi shouldn’t be grouped with standard (dry) Pinot Noirs. You can read what I wrote here: Drink What You Like. Know What You’re Drinking. – Adam Lee Wine

Ranchmart Wine & Spirits took my ad and turned it into an in-store display and that led to an email from Constellation’s lawyers and that, of course, led me to write a response. You can read that letter and the response below. And all of that led to an article in today’s (10.9.24) San Francisco Chronicle (https://www.sfchronicle.com/food/wine/article/meiomi-pinot-noir-sugar-19811640.php)

By the way, I compared the new 2023 Dial Tone Pinot Noir with the new 2022 Meiomi Pinot Noir. There’s now less sugar in 45 bottles of Dial Tone than in 1 bottle of Meiomi. See the ETS Report above.
