This may be my favorite birthday gimmick yet.
The story of Felix Culpa began last vintage when, while experimenting with blends, I accidentally put one barrel of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir into three barrels of Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir.
It was a mistake.
Fortunately, it was a very good mistake.
Hence the name Felix Culpa — “fortunate fault” or “fortunate mistake.”
This year, I made the mistake again.
On purpose.
And I think the 2025 is even better.
It is 75% Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir and 25% Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, and it has just received:

Lisa Perrotti-Brown described intense red currant and blackberry fruit with dried Provençal herbs, olives and cardamom, backed by grainy tannins, freshness and a long, mineral finish.
