Description

Clarice Wine Company was founded by Adam Lee after he sold Siduri Wines to Jackson Family Wines. Clarice is named after his grandmother and Vera Mae, was her daughter, Adam’s mom. Vera, always proud of Adam, and especially pleased when he brought the family name into his wine business, was only discouraged by the prices of the Clarice Wines. Determined, to not let down his mom, Adam found a way (through excess glass, used barrels) to create a $75 Pinot Noir from the famed Garys’ and Rosella’s Vineyards from the Santa Lucia Highlands, instead of the $97 bottle that the wines usually retail at.

Incredibly aromatic, with lots of mulled cherries, mulberries, iron, and tons of savory herb and almost marine-like nuances, the 2019 Pinot Noir Vera Mae is medium-bodied, has a supple, elegant mouthfeel, good balance, and a great finish. It will keep for 7-8 years. This is a mix of 60% Garys’ Vineyard and 40% Rosella’s Vineyard, both top sites in the Santa Lucia Highlands. It was fermented with lots of stems (70%) and spent 10 months in older French oak.
